HOWELL SCOTT - SENIOR PASTOR Pastor Howell has served Bethel Baptist Church as Senior Pastor since July 2007. A native of Florida, he graduated from The George Washington University in 1988 with a B.A. in Political Science and from the Florida State College of Law in 1991 with a Juris Doctorate. Pastor Howell was a practicing attorney for three years in Florida before he answered God's call to the Gospel ministry in 1993. Howell and his wife, Brenda, both attended The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY where they graduated with Master of Divinity degrees in December 1997. After serving churches in Kentucky, Florida, and Virginia, the Scotts moved to Alamogordo to begin their ministry at Bethel. They have three children: Stephen, Jacob, and Andrew. Pastor Howell desires to lead Bethel to develop growing and maturing Christians who will faithfully serve the Lord in missions and ministry. |

GARY MISENER - INTERIM PASTOR OF MUSIC & WORSHIP Gary just recently rejoined the staff of Bethel Baptist as the Interim Associate Pastor of Worship/Music. He previously served here at Bethel as Associate Pastor of Worship from February 2000 through August 2003. Gary is a proud native of New Mexico and grew up in Belen, N.M. where his father served there as pastor of the First Baptist Church for 33 years. Gary attended Hardin-Simmons University, Abilene, Texas, and majored in Music Education with a principal area of study in voice and choral directing. He is married to the former Susan Marie Wade who is a native of Alamogordo and grew up here at Bethel. They have 3 grown children: Jana, 27 yrs., Garrett, 24 yrs. and Anne, 21 yrs. Gary was ordained into the gospel ministry in October 1982 at Calvary Baptist, Portales, N.M. He also served as Worship Pastor of First Baptist, Cisco, Texas, Southeast Baptist of Salt Lake City, Utah and First Baptist, Alamogordo. Gary’s first calling is to help lead others to know Jesus as Lord and Savior. His passion is to lead Christians into experiencing God’s loving presence through worship. |

CANDY SCHOENEBERG - CHRISTIAN COUNSELING DIRECTOR Sheryl “Candy” Schoeneberg helped start Bethel Baptist Church’s Christian Counseling Ministry in 1992 and has served as Director of the Christian Counseling Ministry since September 1993. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education/Latin and Math from The University of Texas at Austin and taught school for several years. Candy earned her Master’s in Marriage and Family Counseling from California Baptist College in Riverside, CA. She has previously worked as a counselor with Genesis Counseling, a Christian counseling center in San Bernadino, CA supported by Campus Crusade for Christ and Minirth-Meier (New Life Clinic) in Albuquerque. Candy is licensed through New Mexico as a Professional Clinical Counselor and a Marriage and Family Therapist. In addition, she is licensed by the National Board for Certified Counselors as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. Candy is a member of the American Association for Christian Counselors. Candy and her husband, Neal, moved to Alamogordo in 1992 when Neal was assigned to Holloman Air Force Base. They joined Bethel Baptist that same year and have made Alamogordo their home. The Schoenebergs have two grown sons. Candy’s desire is to reach out to hurting people with God’s love and grace, and teaching them practical tools to help them confidently face life struggles and be the man or woman or child God has called them to be. |

CHUCK HOYT - CHRISTIAN COUNSELOR Chuck has served as a Christian Counselor in Bethel’s Christian Counseling Ministry since 1995 after having worked as a Educational Diagnostician in the Alamogordo Public Schools for 25 years. He has a B.S. in Education from the University of Nebraska and a M.A. in Psychology, Counseling & Guidance from the University of Colorado. Chuck is a licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor (LPC) and a Certified Domestic Violence Counselor (CDVC). He is a current member of the New Mexico Counselors Association, American Association of Christian Counselors, and the National Association of Forensic Counselors and, a retired member of the National Association of School Psychologists. Chuck is an active member of the Gideon’s International and the Alamogordo Police Chaplains. He and his wife, Carol, were married in 1959. They have four children and eleven grandchildren. The Hoyts have been members of Bethel Baptist Church since 1976. |

TERRY GEARY - TOTS PRESCHOOL DIRECTOR Terry has served as Director of TOTS Preschool since 2000. Prior to assuming the position of Director, Terry was a teacher with TOTS for eight years. A resident of Alamogordo for 34 years, she holds a National Administrator’s Credential and has over 380 hours of continuing education and 105 hours in professionalism training. While born in the United States, Terry spent ten years of her childhood overseas as part of a military family. Her experience as a military kid has given Terry a great understanding and compassion for the military parents and families that utilize the TOTS Preschool. Terry and her husband, Ron, have two daughters who were raised at TOTS and at Bethel Baptist. A member of Bethel since 1978, Terry’s desire is for TOTS to plant the seed of Christ’s love and grace in the precious children that are entrusted into our care. |

DIANA BLONDELL - CHILDREN'S MINISTRY COORDINATOR Diana has served Bethel as Children’s Ministry Coordinator since August 2006. She has extensive experience in children’s ministry, having served as a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School Director/Teacher, Mission Friends Teacher, AWANA Commander/Director/Leader, TeamKID Teacher, Preschool Worship Teacher, and Nursery Volunteer. Originally from Michigan, Diana and her husband, Michael, retired in Alamogordo following his 20 year service in the United States Air Force. They have three children: Pamela, Kimberly, and Thomas. The Blondells have been members of Bethel Baptist Church since December 1999. Diana desires to see children come to know Jesus and to grow in their relationship with Him. |

SHARON BOYDEN - ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT Sharon serves as Administrative Assistant to the Senior Pastor and has been on staff at Bethel since 2007. Her primary responsibilities at Bethel are to assist the Senior Pastor in his ministry. Sharon also maintains the annual church profile and serves as Church Clerk. She has three children – Janelle, Brittni and Kagen – and two grandchildren – Shepherd & Asher. Sharon graduated from Park University with Bachelor’s Degrees in Human Resource Management & Healthcare Management. She is currently finishing her Masters in Healthcare Management from Park University. Sharon enjoys Bible studies, scrapbooking, and spending time with her children & grandchildren, as well as being involved with the Women’s Ministry. She has been a member of Bethel Baptist Church since 1976. |

Cheryll has served as Church Receptionist since April 2010. She is usually the first person that someone meets when they stop by the church office. Cheryll assists members and visitors with questions or needs that they may have. She is actively involved in the Women’s ministry and sees her role as Receptionist as a ministry to the church. Cheryll enjoys cooking and crafts. She and her husband, Jeff, have three sons, Travis, Garrett, and Chancelor, who all reside in Albuquerque. She has been a member of Bethel Baptist since April 2004. |

GEORGE McGOVERN - CUSTODIAN George has served as Church Custodian since June 2006. He is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the entire church campus. George is originally from New York and relocated to Alamogordo in 2004. He loves sports and roots for the University of Syracuse and the Kansas City Chiefs. |

NORM SAWYER - MAINTENANCE Norm has served at Bethel since March 2009. He oversees all the general maintenance of the buildings. A Texas native, he has retired from 21 years of military service and enjoys running, swimming, and lifting weights. Norm is thankful God has placed him here to serve at Bethel Baptist. Members since October 2008, he and his wife Cindy have two daughters, Leanne and Esther.
